Study Information: Drag Makeup vs. AI Workshops

Did you know makeup can be a powerful tool for disrupting surveillance? Join us to learn how to fool facial recognition algorithms and serve looks while doing it! Materials provided but participants are welcome to bring their own makeup!

In this workshop, participants play around with facial recognition technologies and learn how to fool the system using drag queen makeup techniques. This was developed by the Algorithmic Justice League, and aids young people in developing technical knowledge, makeup skills, and everyday understandings of facial recognition algorithms.

You may participate in one of our workshops without being part of the study. This study is completely optional and voluntary!

You can enroll in this study (1) online, anytime or (2) in person, at the start of the workshop (see upcoming workshop details below).
